Emergency Funds Grant

Access Ability Wisconsin (AAW) receives emergency fund grants to continue serving those with mobility issues focusing on those with spinal cord injuries during COVID-19.

The grants from Craig H. Nielsen Foundation are to help us safely continue to serve those with physical disabilities to access the outdoors AND to help those with spinal cord injuries during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Access Ability Wisconsin, Inc., (AAW) is a grassroots non-profit organization and provides access to outdoor wheelchairs (OWC) for use to people with permanent or temporary mobility problems. The equipment allows them, in a practical way, to experience their right to enjoy the great outdoors and discover new opportunities with family and friends, just like everyone else! This possibility enables them to be more equally engaged with society. Benefits are decreased feelings of depression and isolation, increased feelings of independence and spontaneity. Results show lives are improved for individuals with a mobility challenge and their families.

AAW partners with hosts in 10 different counties throughout the state: Barron, Brown, Dane, Eau Claire, Green & Lafayette, Milwaukee, Ozaukee, Sauk, Sawyer, and Vilas. (See “Locations” on www.AccessAbilityWI.org) We are making it easier for individuals with mobility challenges to enjoy their right to access and enjoy Wisconsin’s outdoor natural resources. Outdoors Access 4 All!™

We need volunteers to help. See the Express an Interest form under "Get Involved". If you know someone who can help or someone who needs help, please contact AAW or one of our local partners.  As a volunteer you will also get masks and other personal protective equipment.
